Editorial policy
Last updated: 25 September 2026
This page explains how the MovieReleaseDate.in Editorial Team decides what to publish, how release dates are checked, and what the labels on each movie page mean. Movie pages and news articles are published under the name “MovieReleaseDate.in Editorial Team”. The site is operated by Jay Prakash Vishwakarma.
Sources we use
In order of preference, release information comes from:
- Official announcements from the film's studio, producer or distributor, including their verified social media accounts and press releases.
- Official trailers, teasers and posters that state a release date.
- Certification records of the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).
- Official announcements from streaming platforms for OTT dates.
- Reports in established trade and entertainment publications.
Social media posts from unverified accounts, fan pages and forum rumours are not treated as sources. Where a page relies on a source, that source is linked in the page's “Sources” section.
Release date labels
- Confirmed – the date has been announced by the studio, distributor, streaming platform or another official source (for example, an official trailer that states the date).
- Expected – a release window or date has been indicated (for example, a festival slot mentioned by the makers) but not formally locked. Dates imported into our calendar that have not yet been checked against an official source are also shown as Expected.
- Reported – the date comes from trade or news reports and has not been confirmed officially.
- TBA – no release date has been announced.
A date is never labelled Confirmed on the basis of media reports alone. Theatrical and OTT dates are labelled separately, because a film can have a confirmed theatrical date and no OTT date yet. When a date changes, the previous date is kept in the page's release date history with a note about what changed.
News articles
News articles separate what is confirmed from what is being reported. Reports that have not been confirmed are marked as unconfirmed. Each article links to the reports or announcements it is based on, and shows when it was published and last updated.
How often pages are updated
We aim to review upcoming releases for the current and next month every week, and each movie page shows a “Last verified” date once its release information has been checked. Pages are updated sooner when a studio announces a change, a film receives its CBFC certificate, or an OTT date is announced. Older titles are reviewed less often.
Use of software tools and AI
Some drafts, summaries and structured data on this site are prepared with the help of software tools, including AI writing assistants. Tool output is treated as a draft only: dates, names, certificates, box office figures and quotes are checked against the sources listed on the page before publishing, and anything that cannot be verified is either labelled as reported or left out. Tools are not used to invent quotes, reviews or ratings.
Ratings, box office and budgets
Ratings are shown only when available and are labelled with their source (for example, “IMDb rating”). Budget and box office figures are shown only when a figure has been published by the makers or a reputable trade source; estimates are identified as such.
Independence and advertising
MovieReleaseDate.in is not affiliated with any studio, distributor or streaming service and does not accept payment for listings, ranking or coverage. The site shows advertising; advertisers have no influence over editorial content.
