Neha Dhupia on Not Getting Her Due in Bollywood: 'Maybe I Didn't Put Out This Signal'

Actor Neha Dhupia has said that she may be partly responsible for not getting the Bollywood roles she wanted, because she did not make her ambitions clear enough.

What happened

In an interview reported by the Times of India in August 2026, Dhupia said that filmmakers may not have known how to cast her because "maybe I didn't put out this signal". She acknowledged that opportunities had been limited, but said she had not done enough to create them herself.

She has spoken about this before. In a 2024 Times of India report, she said she was still struggling after 22 years in the industry and was getting offers from the South but not from Bollywood.
