Singer Sonu Nigam has said that Jaan-E-Mann, Shirish Kunder's 2006 romantic musical, deserved to succeed, and that its box-office failure came down to timing.

Speaking to Bollywood Hungama, Nigam praised the performances of Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar and Preity Zinta, as well as the songs, which Anu Malik composed and Nigam sang on. He said that "faltu" (worthless) films sometimes become big hits while a good film fails.
Box Office India lists Jaan-E-Mann as a flop, with an India net of about ₹25 crore. Bollywood Hungama's box-office page shows similar figures.
