Release date and status

Aakasamlo Oka Tara is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on 20 November 2026. The Hindu and Times of India reported Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam versions, and earlier listings also mentioned Kannada and Hindi. Dulquer Salmaan repeated the date when the teaser came out on 17 October 2026 ("See you in theatres on November 20th"). We label it expected until certification. Times Now pointed out that it opens the same day as Om – Chapter 1, the Dhanush film co-starring Mammootty, which makes it a father-versus-son clash at the box office.

About the title

The title, meaning "a star in the sky", comes from a song in the 1986 Telugu film Simhasanam. The short form AOT is a nod to the anime Attack on Titan.

Production

Swapna Cinema announced the film on 28 July 2024, Dulquer's birthday. Sandeep Gunnam and Ramya Gunnam produce it for Geetha Arts, Swapna Cinema and Lightbox Media. Filming began with a puja in Hyderabad on 2 February 2025, where newcomer Satvika Veeravalli was introduced as the female lead. Gunnam Gangaraju wrote the film from a story by Pavan Sadineni and Vasanth Jurru. Sadineni previously made Prema Ishq Kaadhal (2013), Savitri (2016) and the series Dayaa. This is Dulquer's next full Telugu film after Mahanati, Sita Ramam and Lucky Baskhar.

Music

GV Prakash Kumar composes the music, reuniting with Dulquer after Lucky Baskhar (2024). The first single, "Chitti Chitti Cheema", was released on Dulquer's birthday in July 2026 in several languages. When the teaser came out, GV Prakash called the film "a beautiful classic cinema".
