Clayface Story
Matt Hagen is a rising Hollywood actor. When a scientific experiment goes wrong, he loses his face, his identity and finally his humanity, and he turns into a shape-shifting monster driven by revenge.
Release in India
Warner Bros. is releasing Clayface in India on 23 October 2026 in English and Hindi. The CBFC passed the film with an A (adults only) certificate after asking for several cuts, including edits to nudity and some violent shots. Ticket booking platforms such as District list shows from the opening day.
A horror film first
DC Studios has positioned Clayface as a smaller, darker film in the style of a body-horror thriller. Mike Flanagan, known for The Haunting of Hill House, wrote the first draft, and Hossein Amini later worked on the script. Watkins previously made Eden Lake and The Woman in Black, so the film leans on dread and practical transformation effects more than action set pieces.
Who is Clayface?
In the comics, Matt Hagen is one of several characters to use the Clayface name. He is a treasure hunter whose body becomes a mass of living clay that can copy any face. The film keeps the actor angle and builds its horror around losing one's own face in an industry obsessed with looks.
