Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse Release Date: June 2027

The film picks up immediately after Across the Spider-Verse. Miles Morales is trapped and on the run in Earth-42, an alternate universe where his uncle Aaron is the Prowler, while trying to save his family from The Spot.

Release date and status

Sony Pictures has scheduled Beyond the Spider-Verse for 18 June 2027 in the United States. As of 23 October 2026 no separate India date had been announced. Sony's animated Spider-Man films usually open in India within a few days of the US, but we list 18 June 2027 only as the expected US date.

A long road

Sony began developing a sequel to Into the Spider-Verse (2018) before that film was released. During production, the sequel was split into two films, Across the Spider-Verse and Beyond the Spider-Verse, made at the same time. Beyond was first given a March 2024 date before Across was prioritised. The 2023 SAG-AFTRA strike paused production, and Sony took the film off its schedule to give the animators time. Work resumed in December 2023. The directors and writers were confirmed about a year later, and in early 2025 the film was re-dated to 2027 while voice recording was under way.

Story

Lord and Miller have described Beyond as more emotional than the earlier films, because it focuses on Miles trying to save his family. It continues from the cliffhanger at the end of Across, with Miles stuck on Earth-42 and The Spot set on destroying his home universe.
