Mahakali Story

Mahakali is built around a war between Dharma and Adharma. The first glimpse shows Shukracharya leading the forces of the Asuras into a conflict that threatens the whole world, under the tagline "The End Begins".

Release date and status

The 8 January 2027 date was revealed in August 2026 together with the first glimpse, a roughly three-minute video titled "Shukracharya's War Cry". The date falls just ahead of the Sankranti holiday period. We mark it as expected until a trailer and advance bookings arrive.

Part of the PVCU

Prasanth Varma launched his mythology-based universe with Hanu-Man, and Mahakali continues it with a new director at the helm. Varma is credited among the writers on IMDb. Puja Aparna Kolluru directs.

Akshaye Khanna as Shukracharya

The glimpse came shortly after the makers revealed Akshaye Khanna's full look. He is almost unrecognisable, with a long silver-white beard, matted hair tied in a topknot and traditional tilak markings. This is his first Telugu film. Sriya Reddy also features prominently in the glimpse.
