Vibe is an action-thriller comedy written and directed by Kunal Kemmu. It is developed as a spin-off from his directorial debut, Madgaon Express (2024).

Production history

Vibe is Kunal Kemmu's second film as writer-director after Madgaon Express (2024) and his first as producer. It is a spin-off of that film, built around Hardik, the character Kemmu played in a special appearance. Vanshika Dhir makes her debut. Kaushal Shah was the cinematographer, Anand Subaya and Sanjay Shrirang edited it, and Mukesh Chhabra was the casting director. The film marks part of Preity Zinta's comeback after her last Indian film, Bhaiaji Superhit (2018), and it was her second 2026 release after Batwara 1947. Kemmu first imagined her playing a fictional version of herself, a famous actress working as a spy, before dropping the idea. Zinta, who had never done action scenes, said the shoot involved days of up to 18 hours and that she badly injured her shoulder during filming. The film was announced on 19 March 2026, after filming was complete.

Trailer and music

Amazon MGM Studios released an 80-second teaser on 20 August 2026, a day after the poster, and the trailer was launched at a Mumbai event on 2 September 2026. Amit Trivedi composed the music, with rights held by Tips Industries. "Raaton Mein Aana" (written by Kumaar, sung by Trivedi) was released on 27 August 2026, and the rap track "Aisi Meri Vibe" on 7 September 2026.

Certification and runtime

The CBFC granted an 'A' certificate with no visual cuts; only two words were muted. The runtime is 145 minutes. PVR Inox Pictures distributes in India and Reliance Entertainment overseas.

Box office

Vibe opened with ₹1.65 crore net in India. Wikipedia reports a worldwide gross of ₹12.17 crore (₹10.54 crore India and ₹1.63 crore overseas). It opened on the same day as Daayra, starring Kemmu's sister-in-law Kareena Kapoor.

Critical reception

Reviews were mixed to positive, with praise for the situational comedy. Dhaval Roy of The Times of India (3.5/5) recommended it to viewers looking for a laugh riot built on good performances and unabashed silliness. Shubhra Gupta of The Indian Express called it a goofy spy saga with the right degree of silliness, and Shachi Chaturvedi of News18 (3.5/5) praised it for not taking itself seriously compared with big-budget spy thrillers.
