Chandni Bar 2 Release Date: 3 December 2026 (Announced)

The makers have not shared a plot. When announcing the film, they said it would revisit the bar-dance world and its link to crime with a modern lens, with shooting planned in Mumbai and Dubai.

Is 3 December 2026 still on?

The date has not been officially changed, but we mark it as reported rather than confirmed. Shooting was planned to start in mid-2026, and there has been no trailer, teaser or confirmed cast so far, which is unusual for a film due in six weeks. The title is also in dispute: Madhur Bhandarkar complained to the producers' body IMPPA about the use of the Chandni Bar name, as Hindustan Times reported. We will update this page as soon as the makers confirm the schedule.

Who is in it?

No cast has been officially announced. In June 2026 Filmfare and India Today reported that Katrina Kaif was in talks to lead, possibly alongside Tabu, but these are reports from unnamed sources. IMDb's listing also names Tabu and Sharvari, and it credits a different director, so we have not added any actors until the makers confirm.

About the original

Chandni Bar (2001) followed Mumtaz, a young woman forced into bar dancing in Mumbai, and how that world pulled her children into crime. It starred Tabu and Atul Kulkarni and remains one of Bhandarkar's best-known films.

Title dispute and production status

Original director Madhur Bhandarkar complained to the Indian Motion Picture Producers' Association over use of the title, and Legend Studios responded that it holds option rights from the original producers, the registered trademark owners (Filmfare). Filmfare also reported that Sharvari, Ananya Panday and Triptii Dimri are in the running for the lead, though no casting is confirmed. In a 1 October 2026 interview with Variety India, Bhandarkar said he has not moved forward with his own sequel. As of late October 2026, no start of filming has been announced, so the 3 December 2026 date is still only the date given at announcement.
