Release strategy

First slated for February 2025, the film was moved to 1 May 2025 to take advantage of the Labour Day and Maharashtra Day long weekend. Unusually, it received its CBFC certificate (U/A 13+) on 28 March 2025, more than a month before release, after a minor change to eight seconds of dialogue.

OTT release

The film began streaming on Netflix on 26 June 2025.

Production history

Raid 2 was announced in April 2020 as a sequel to Raid (2018). Set seven years later, it brings back Ajay Devgn as IRS officer Amay Patnaik and again draws on income-tax raids carried out with intelligence agencies. Riteish Deshmukh joined in January 2024 as the antagonist, and Vaani Kapoor replaced Ileana D'Cruz as the female lead. Filming began on 6 January 2024 with a muhurat shot by Ravi Teja, star of the 2024 Telugu remake of Raid, and took place in Mumbai, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan. Principal photography wrapped in April 2024, with patchwork done by late May. Two item songs were added in 2025: one with Yo Yo Honey Singh and Jacqueline Fernandez in late March, and one with Tamannaah Bhatia shot in a Mumbai studio in early April, choreographed by Vijay Ganguly.

Music

The songs are by Yo Yo Honey Singh, Rochak Kohli, Sachet–Parampara and White Noise Collectives, with a background score by Amit Trivedi. The singles were "Nasha" (11 April 2025), "Kamle" (16 April) and "Money Money" (22 April). "Tumhe Dillagi" is Manoj Muntashir and Rochak Kohli's recreation of the Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan song.

Certification and runtime

The film released with a U/A 13+ certificate from the CBFC. The runtime is 138 minutes.

Box office

Raid 2 opened with ₹19.71 crore in India and about ₹27 crore worldwide, and grossed more than ₹100 crore worldwide in its opening weekend, including about ₹14 crore overseas. It finished its run at an estimated ₹243.06 crore worldwide, about twice its reported ₹120 crore budget.

Critical reception

Reviews were mixed to positive, with Devgn and Deshmukh widely praised but the pacing criticised; Rotten Tomatoes listed 29% of 14 critics' reviews as positive (average 5.3/10). Anuj Kumar of The Hindu felt the sequel added nothing new beyond a loud background score. Rahul Desai of The Hollywood Reporter India called it taxing and overstaffed, while Taran Adarsh of Bollywood Hungama (3.5/5) praised Devgn's restrained performance.
